Chapelier Fou / Matt Elliott and Maxime Tisserand

Film-concert La Jetée

One of the major movie of photographer and filmmaker Chris Marker revisited by a detonating trio: Chapelier Fou, Matt Elliott and saxophonist-clarinetist Maxime Tisserand.

All at once bright and dark, minimalist and grandiloquent, a unique journey into the depths of a post-apocalyptic city.

After the Third World War, the planet became radioactive. To escape their imminent disappearance, torturers seek to open a breach in time, engaging in a dangerous exercise of hypnosis on one of their prisoners.

This short sci-fi movie reveals an apocalyptic future, the one after the destruction of Paris, where the main character is obsessed with a childhood image.

Directed in 1962 by Chris Marker, this short film takes the form of a "photo-novel", a succession of shots in black and white, with the exception of a single shot. "Commented" live by Matt Elliott, this scary and mysterious tale of anticipation is the opportunity of an original creation by musician Chapelier Fou, accompanied by clarinetist and saxophonist Maxime Tisserand.
